How does weighted therapy work?
The term weighted therapy, tools or toys describes a product that has been weighted usually with poly pellets or stainless steel pellets. These pellets are so small when put together they feel soft and mould to your body. They have been designed to provide proprioceptive input to the brain, giving a calming and organising effect on the central nervous system.
Weighted therapy is often recommended by an Occupational Therapist, it has been proven to work for kids and adults with ADHD, autism, PTSD and anxiety disorders. This type of therapy is used in hospitals and schools with great success.
We have sourced life like soft toy animals that are the perfect to be used for weighted therapy, they have a range of weights and they also are sensory calming to touch and pat. Gorgeous, super soft and cuddly which makes them appealing to people of all ages.
